Wally Ishibashi is senior advisor to the OMKM on project construction. Mr. Ishibashi a recognized and registered cultural descendant of Maunakea with the State of Hawaii Division of Historic Preservation. He traces his genealogical line to Poliahu, one of four female deities on Maunakea. Having learned from his elders from an early age, Mr. Ishibashi continues to his cultural practices on Maunakea. He instills awareness and understanding about Maunakea’s deep cultural significance with those who work on the mountain, and through outreach and educational programs. Ishibashi also assists with cultural orientation for those using Maunakea for cultural, scientific, and recreational purposes.

Community Forums is a private non-profit organization with a 501c (3) designation from the IRS. Its mission is to bring educational resources to the residents of West Hawai'i so they can better participate in the public policy issues that affect their lives and their communities.
